Glorious Weekend

Hello Friends!
I hope everyone had a great time celebrating the Risen Lamb this weekend!  The weekend was a little busy for me, which was kind of unfortunate, but I am still thankful and loved celebrating at the 7:07 service last night.

I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.  Please use this post to comment on what awesome things have been happening in your life (Jesus or running related).  Also, if something is difficult right now then post that too so the rest of us can pray for and encourage you.  As always, I will start the comments.  Don't leave me out there by myself!

Love you all!
Candice

  1. Something really encouraging that happened in my life recently took place at our "out event", Relay for Life. Alex and I were signed up for the corn hole tournament. We were lame and just could not find it, but finally we came across a corn hole area. There were two Asian students attempting to play on the end, so we asked to join them. We quickly realized that they were not Asian American; they were fresh to the USA from China. Long story short, I started asking the guy about Jesus. Both the girl and guy have started going to church in Blacksburg, and had never heard about Jesus until a couple of months ago when they moved to VT to study as exchange students. We got to go a little more in depth with them about Jesus as much as we could with the language barrier. It was really encouraging and empowered me to be more bold in general. It also got Alex and I even more excited about overseas missions. The guy actually said, "China needs Christians like you to tell the people about Jesus." Pretty awesome and direct!

  2. Candice, thanks for your comment on my blog! Your question is something I'm really struggling with at the moment. I love running with friends, but I'm finding that we're at different levels... lately I've started running alone to get miles in at a faster pace, and then just cooling down with my friends for the final miles.

I had NO idea that there was a running engage group going on in the campus congregation. I think this is SO AWESOME!!!! I love running, and I have experienced so much spiritually through running. I think it's great that y'all have a group going. :)

  3. Forgot to answer about the local races -- I check a LOT of websites to stay up on what races are going on. Both the Blacksburg Striders and the Star City Striders keep up an events page with races. RunAbout Sports has a website with races too. These are probably the best places to look. There will be a 5K in Blacksburg on June 18th as part of the Summer Solstice Fest. I am definitely planning to run this race!
